Bow is a much loved 40ft Springer used mainly as a live-aboard for the past twenty years. It is fully mobile and has been regularly cruised around the rivers and canals of London. It was built in the mid 80s The accommodation layout is very flexible and can be set up to provide a double bed, two single beds in separate compartments, or a "daytime" mode which provides plenty of space for socializing. The accommodation consists of (from forward to aft) Front Lounge area: bench seating which can be set up as a double bed, or a single bed, with storage area. Cross boat bathroom: with shower, small handbasin, and Thetford Traveller Dump-Through/Pump-Out toilet and tank. Full length wardrobe/bedding locker. Lounge/Dining area: can be set up as an L shaped settee, a single bed, or a dining area (with dining table) that seats 6-8 people. Kitchen: with gas/electric fridge, Vanette stove/grill/oven, gas water heater, and extensive storage. Engine Room: With Thorneycroft marinised engine, Hurth HBW 100 gearbox, one domestic/one engine battery, Stirling battery charger/power unit, galvanic isolator. Heating is by coal/wood stove in lounge area. Bow has been regularly docked for blacking every three years (last May 2012) with anodes changed as required.
